WOW! I had such a wonderful experience last week. I had the honour of dancing with the Underbelly Belly dance troupe at the ICC Cricket World Cup opening ceremony. We represented the United Arab Emirates and performed a Khaleegy dance. For those of you who haven’t heard of Khaleegy, it is actually a folkloric dance from the Gulf region. It is danced in a beautiful long embroided dress (see below) and there is A LOT of hair flicking involved (I have a sore neck now!). I’m in the middle, wearing purple.
